Technora® combines the core advantages of standard aramids with improved heat, abrasion, and fatigue resistance, making it an ideal reinforcement for demanding applications requiring long-term durability. Technora® has been benchmarked against commonly used reinforcement materials such as steel wire, carbon fiber, and UHMWPE, as well as conventional para-aramids (PPTA), across key metrics including chemical resistance, fatigue resistance, tenacity, creep resistance, and long-term heat resistance. The results show Technora® offers a well-balanced profile across all categories, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications where durability and consistent performance matter. Mechanical properties
Technora® delivers high tensile strength and durability, making it well-suited for applications exposed to extreme loads and challenging environmental conditions.
- Tensile strength of 3.1–3.6 GPa: ~6x stronger than steel by weight
- Modulus: 66–84 GPa: Provides stiffness and minimal elongation under load
- Fatigue resistance: Withstands cyclic loading without structural degradation
- Abrasion resistance: Maintains integrity in wear-intensive environments
Technora® retains mechanical integrity under high loads, though prolonged extreme stress can shorten service life. UV exposure should be minimized to prevent surface degradation.

Dimensional stability
Technora® is designed to resist deformation under sustained mechanical loads and temperature fluctuations.
- Minimal creep: Maintains shape under prolonged tension
- Thermal expansion coefficient: Remains stable across temperature variations
- Performance improves at higher temperatures: Further reduced creep under heat
- No shrinkage in hot air: Ensures structural consistency
Thermal properties
Technora® performs reliably across a wide temperature range, making it suitable for both high-heat and subzero environments.
- No melting point: Decomposes at 500°C (932°F)
- Retains structural integrity at -200°C (-328°F)
- Low thermal conductivity: Contributes to thermal insulation
- Self-extinguishing: High limiting oxygen index (LOI) ensures flame resistance
N.B. For long-term performance, exposure to temperatures above 250°C (482°F) should be limited, as Technora® retains approximately 50% of its strength after 54 days at 250°C (482°F).
Chemical resistance
The closed filament morphology of Technora® prevents chemical penetration, ensuring resistance to organic solvents and most industrial chemicals.
- Resistant to hydrocarbons and organic solvents
- Stable against most inorganic chemicals: Resistance depends on pH and exposure time
N.B. Material selection is essential in chemically aggressive environments, such as oil & gas processing.
